On April 13, 2011, Niagara College celebrated the Grand Opening of their Teaching Brewery and Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program at their Niagara-on-the-Lake campus. The Teaching Brewery is Canada’s first and only teaching brewery and the 2 year program is one of a kind!
Guest speakers included John Sleeman (founder of Sleeman Breweries Ltd.), Niagara College President Dr. Dan Patterson, Adrian Popowycz (Brewmaster at Black Oak Brewery), Jon Ogryzlo (Dean, Canadian Food and Wine Institute Niagara College), and Austin Roach (NC Student).
The 2011 Craft Brewers Conference in San Francisco had many Canadian craft breweries in attendance and after the closing reception, about 1/3 of them gathered in the lobby of the host hotel to sing O’ Canada, much to the delight of other CBC attendees.
